So some of you may be wondering why I chose the title “Reflections with Christia”. This name was given to me by God at 5 am in December 2020. I will never forget it. It is not normal for me to wake up at 5 am without an alarm. So I knew right away God was speaking. I had just announced myself as a recording artist, singer, songwriter, and producer a couple of months prior on social media. It was such a purposeful moment for me. So I stepped out on faith and did it! I released my first single “Hold Me Down” and everything felt like it was lining up. I finally felt like I was living out my purpose (besides being a wife and mom). Then all of a sudden, I get woken up by God and He tells me to do a vlog telling my testimony. I was so intimidated but willing to do it with God’s help. He told me that the church has an identity crisis like I did. The church has lost who they truly are. We have authority through Jesus Christ and we don’t use it. We have benefits to walking with Jesus and we don’t know them. We are fearfully and wonderfully made and we don’t see it. He showed me how conformed to the world and the system we have become. The Bible tells us we are in the world but not of it. So why are we letting the world and its system define who we are? God is the first system and creator of all things, however, we have even allowed the world to redefine things He already established in the beginning, such as marriage, sex, gender, creation, and other subjects. Why? Because we forgot who we are and whose we are. It was not about the fruit in the garden that caused Adam and Eve to fall. It was their disobedience. And why did they disobey? Let’s look at the passage.
“Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.”
Genesis 3:1-7 NKJV
We see here in this scripture that the devil challenged their identity. My pastor says never negotiate with the devil. They were already made in the image and likeness of God. Therefore, why did they listen to satan when he stated, “If you eat of the fruit, you will become like God.” They already had God’s DNA living and flowing through them, but what the enemy said made them doubt that. And that’s what we do too. The enemy challenges our identity in Christ Jesus. It’s just a little bit of sex. God doesn’t want you to have fun. Just a little time to relax and let off some steam. The enemy will always normalize rebellion and disobedience. He will decorate it like it’s no big deal and will even twist scripture. Now here is the key. If you know who you are and whose you are, according to the Word of God, you will not be deceived. It’s when we don’t know the Word for ourselves and we don’t know who we are in God that will cause us to believe the enemy and fall. “Reflections with Christia” is geared to help believers and nonbelievers discover who they truly are in God. It’s all about identity! If we know who we are in Christ there is so much we can accomplish for the kingdom and the enemy’s attacks become fruitless.
There was so much inside of me that lay dormant because I didn’t know who I was and there were things I allowed to attach to me that did not belong. For example, I got betrayed by a friend when I was a little girl. My trust in people changed. The hurt from that experience attached itself to my soul and became a part of me. I would get close to people but only at arm’s length and became very distant. I was afraid of getting close to people and being vulnerable because I didn’t know what they were capable of. Now, do you think this was God’s original design for my life? Of course not! This hindered my capacity to love fully and it made my heart hard. When I grew older, and fully gave my life to Jesus, I encountered the love of God. It changed my life forever. I couldn’t get enough. It chiseled away at my stony heart. I would be here all day if I told you the layers of hurt, pain, and rejection I went through even after the incident when I was younger with my friend. God’s love and kindness healed me and continue to do so in this present time.
Lastly, I will say, try your best to not let pain become who you are. Pain is an indicator that a change needs to take place. Think about it. When you start experiencing pain in your body, would you go to the doctor and see what’s wrong? Then the doctor gives you a treatment to help the pain go away. However, if it wasn’t for the pain you would have never known something was wrong. Let pain do its job but don’t get comfortable in it. In life, things will happen but we allow those experiences to bring us closer to God and make us more like Him. As God heals us and makes us whole, we become even better than before. That is Him giving us beauty for ashes.
My prayer is that this platform is used for God’s glory only and that He restores those who struggle in this area. I pray that your true identity in the Word of God be unveiled and people from all walks of life will start putting on the new man. I pray that we would be transformed by the renewing of our minds. I pray that we would be a people that stand as clay while the Potter molds and shapes us into who He has created us to be. I bind anything that has attached itself to us that is not like God and may it be cast into the sea. We bind the enemy and his lies. We loose a renewed mind and heart, rooted in Christ Jesus. And just as you did for me Lord, let your love overflow in each person reading this blog. Let them encounter an even greater measure of your love than ever before and let it flow to every person we come in contact with. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
